REVIEW: The Ram Restaurant and Brewery

Last weekend, my best friend Alaska invited me to a girl’s night out with a group of friends. We were in Monmouth … which you should know is one of those one-stoplight, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of towns … so we opted to head for the Ram Restaurant and Brewery in Salem.

DrinkIt was 8 o’clock on a Saturday night, so we weren’t surprised it was busy, but we did manage to claim a spot in the bar. We all ordered drinks (I started with a coffee/chocolate liquor/Bailey’s Irish cream/caramel concoction that was actually quite tasty), and debated between appetizers and desserts. Ages later, we were able to catch the waitress’s attention again, and Alaska and I ordered the mixed berry skillet to split.

We also asked for water … at least twice. The food came and went. Still no water. One of the girls finally snagged a few glasses directly from the bartender.

But back to the food. It tasted delicious, a steamy, mini pie, bursting with berry flavor, and topped with a generous scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. The only problem? Nobody had any toothpaste … and the dessert had stained our mouths a dark purple!

Toothpaste on toothbrushWe tried rinsing with water. We tried scrubbing with napkins and paper towels. We tried gum. Nothing worked. The only solution was to keep our mouths closed as much as possible until we got home and could brush our teeth with a large dose of strong, whitening toothpaste. Needless to say, I will not be ordering the mixed berry skillet again.

However, it does make for an entertaining review to write. And you can read another version on Yelp.
