I fell for the Geisha Girl

Yup, it’s true. In fact, I fell so hard that I wrote a post about it on Solevoice, too.

Me and my Geisha Girl

But before your mind wanders too far, you have to look at the picture of us together (right). Aren’t we just the perfect pair?

The Geisha Girl is one of the newest shades available for the ever-popular Vans Classic Slip-On shoe (you know, the same style Sean Penn wore as a black-and-white checkerboard in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”?) Anyway, as is to be expected by a shoe fanatic like myself, I’ve been yearning for a pair of classics but I couldn’t decide just which style I wanted. After all … Solestruck has more options than any other site I’ve seen.

And then … the lovely Geisha Girl arrived. Her coffee-colored tresses and a beguiling side profile are outlined against a soft, sky blue, while a slightly darker cerulean shade sketches a sort of paisley pattern around the toes. Ahh, can’t you tell just by the way I talk about these shoes that I’m in love? ;)

And if by now you’re absolutely dying of envy, go on over to Solestruck and get your own pair of Vans Classic Slip-Ons. They’re on sale right now for $34.95!

Partylite Candle Party

About a year ago, I got back in touch with one of my best friends from high school … I think I’ll call her Ashley (read this post about Why I Use a Nickname). A few weeks ago, she began selling Partylite candles and asked if I’d be willing to host a party to help her get started. I said sure, why not?

If you’re not familiar with Partylite, you’re missing out. They definitely aren’t the lowest-priced options out there, but you get what you pay for. Partylite candles are made with unbleached cotton wicks, so you won’t get that ugly black ring on your holders or in the smoke when you snuff them out … the scents are seriously amazing … and the high-quality wax evaporates completely.

Anyway … the party was last week. I invited over a dozen friends and family members, but only my mom’s sister came. I was a bit sad, but then Dad came home and we dragged him over to check things out. Here are the few photos I took before he made me put the camera away ;)

Vegas, here I come!

“It’s a big world. Someone has to shoe it.”

It’s pretty much the largest footwear show in the world. It’s happening in Las Vegas, Nevada starting today. And in just a few hours, I’ll be on a plane on my way there! Yahoo!

WSA (World Shoe Association) occurs twice a year attracting more than 36,000 participants and nearly 1,600 exhibitors. My company is sending me along with two others this year … I’ve never gone before … and although I’m honestly pretty nervous, I’m super excited too.

Our schedule is crazy busy, meeting with new and current vendors. We might get to see a show or something. We’ll have to fit in sleeping and eating somewhere. I just hope the clothes I have packed are appropriate, and especially my shoes! I’m bringing five pairs for the three days ;)

And before you ask, yes, I’ll do my best to take a ton of photos and blog all about the trip when I get home … but just so you won’t miss me too much while I’m gone, I have a post or two scheduled too. Leave some love!
