“Come on over” to country, Jess

I’ve never made it a secret that the only thing that appeals to me about Jessica Simpson is her line of shoes (read my review on Amazon of the Jessica Simpson Dell Peep Toe Platform).

But then, when I was listening to the radio (99.5 the Wolf) all day yesterday, trying to win tickets to Toby Keith and Montgomery Gentry next weekend, I heard her newest song. It’s called “Come on Over,” and you can click here to listen on Rhapsody.

So … what do you think?  I want to dislike it, just because it’s Jessica Simpson, but I don’t.  Quite the opposite … I’m afraid to admit I actually kinda like it.  Actually, I love the lyrics.  They’re so simple and pure, and her singing is much the same.  No, there’s not really anything to make the single stand out, but in a way that makes me like the song that much better.  She’s energetic and likable, and just a bit twangy … just the way I like my country music ;)

Oh, and apparently the album is coming out Sept. 9.  I’ll be honeymooning in San Francisco … but I might have to pick up it up when I get home just to see if there’s anything else decent on it.
