Whichever side your biscuit is buttered on, I’m guessing you’ve probably thought to yourself, “Gwenelle is a very unusual name” (and that biscuit phrase came out of nowhere!). I agree … that’s because it’s not actually my name. Rather, it’s the phonetic spelling of my middle name. The middle name my parents gave me is “Gwenal” (my grandmother’s name “Gwen” + my grandfather’s name “Al” = “Gwenal”). I think my spelling, “Gwenelle”, is more pronounceable and prettier-looking … I’m seriously considering a legal change when I change my last name after the wedding.
Anyway, when I began my blog I wanted to preserve some anonymity, so I choose “Gwenelle.” Now that I’ve been writing here for almost a year and I’m known as Gwenelle (sometimes with a “7″ added) across the web, I’m reluctant to change. I must say, however, since I’ve blogged and commented as both Gwenelle and my own self … and combined the usernames on a few sites … the anonymity for myself is becoming a moot point. And that’s fine with me. But as for my friends, I’ll keep the nicknames … it’s a combination of the privacy thing plus, it’s just kinda fun 
I might even add a whole page about my friends and how I chose their nicknames.
