Chew on this baby-safe jewelry by Smart Mom

Baby’s teeth aren’t even showing yet, but she’s already chewing anything and everything she can get her hands on.  Including your favorite necklaces.

Teething Bling Pendant

Sound familiar? It was for Kendra and Amy, the two brilliant ladies behind Smart Mom Jewelry. Started in 2002, the company’s first product line was Teething Bling pendants and bangles made from the same material as many teething toys.  According to the company’s website, the jewelry material is non-toxic, latex-free, food–safe, even dishwasher-friendly!  At first glance the necklaces look typical and trendy, available in both donut and heart shapes, solid colors or coordinating patterns (metallics coming soon).  Looking closer, though, one can see that there’s something different – these items are truly safe for curious babies to handle and chew.  In addition, all pendants hang on a black silken cord with a breakaway clasp as an added safety feature.

Now before anyone gets the crazy idea that I have a reason for looking at cute stuff like this, I’d better tell you that I spotted Smart Mom Jewelry in a post on Shake the Salt and I just had to make a note of it for the (distant – I’m not even married yet, folks!) future.

Oh yeah … some celebs have been spotted wearing Teething Bling, too.  Remember Tracey Gold as Carol Seaver on Growing Painsand Jodi Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner on Full House ?  Those little girls are all grown up now with kids of their own.  Other smart parents in Hollywood include Ali Landry, Tori Spelling, Niecy Nash and even Louis Lombardi!
