Win $500! Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest

Christmas is a time for traditions, food, merriment, family, and … horrific seasonal sweaters. It’s the only time of year where you can sport apparel with a Rudolph nose that blinks red lights without being teased (too much).

Haven’t these folks seen Mr. Incredible?

Discovered via FashionablyGeek.com: “These caped superhero socks bring me an enormous amount of joy. Choose from Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman versions. But that’s not all. 80s Tees also has smaller DC Comics socks and TMNT socks in stock!” Read the rest of this entry »

Wait a Minute, Mr. Postman!

Not long along, I found a super-cute handbag online. It’s almost twice the price of the most expensive bag I’ve ever bought, though, so I tried to forget it. Today, weeks later, I spotted it again and I am still absolutely loving it!

Meet Mr. Postman (black & white) by Kathy Van Zeeland.

♥ Sophisticated but trendy, too
♥ The perfect size for an everyday, everywhere handbag
♥ In black and white, it matches just about anything
♥ Plenty of pockets for all the necessities, and then some
♥ Versatile, with a shoulder strap plus the handles
♥ The pattern is just like what I would make for a scrapbook page!

Can you see why I love it so much? Besides, if a super-cute handbag like this would satisfy my “wanderlust“, it would be way cheaper to buy the bag than pay for a plane ticket. At least that’s how it works in my mind! Haha. But seeing as how I don’t have the money to spare for even a bus ticket right now, I’ll have to be content with writing about it 🙂

Photo Challenge Day 22: Fashion

"High Fashion" Photo © Gwenelle, April 2011

My “Fashion” photo is a pair of shoes that I’ve had for a few years but hardly ever wear (look at the heel, you’ll understand LOL). They’re so fun and unusual, though! It’s a style by Jessica Simpson that I got for free back when I worked for a shoe e-tailer (read my review on Amazon, too). I know, they look a bit weird by themselves, but I promise, with a pair of dark jeans and a simple shirt, they’re awesome. Plus, they’re my husband’s favorites, so I keep them around. Side note: When I had these shoes out to photograph them, he was all worried, like, “You’re not getting rid of them, are you?”

Photo Challenge Day 6: Shadows

String of Pearls

For some reason, today’s topic “Shadows” was hard for me. I had hoped for a sunny-ish day so I’d have some opportunities outdoors for photos, but apparently the weather system over Portland is stuck in February – poor hubby got snowed on today near Salem! Anyhow, I started wandering the apartment with my camera and a little desk lamp, hunting for some fun or quirky shadows. I ended up trying for a bit of elegance instead with this shot of my pearl necklaces–I hardly ever wear them, but they’re so pretty 🙂
