My boss is a Dumbledore look-alike

If I hadn’t glanced at Twitter this morning, I wouldn’t have realized that today was the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. But it was kinda hard to miss considering #harrypotterlive was a trending topic most of the day, along with #lovetriangle, #nevilletwins, #lunalovejoy, “Snape, Snape, Severus Snape”, GINGER PEOPLE and more. Crazy, right? You can find out more in this post from @HP4Writers, as well watching it on YouTube.

By the way, yes, I know it’s the Weasley twins and Luna Lovegood, but the presenter/announcer on the livestream feed was about as far from a Potterhead as one can get and still live in the 21st century. He couldn’t even pronounce J.K.’s last name correctly! (it’s “Rowling” like “bowling”!) Ugh.

But honestly, the strangest thing all day was when I saw a photo tweeted by @SnitchSnatcher of Sir Michael Gambon (Dumbledore). Oh. My. Word.  My only thought was, “He looks just like Randy!” – the senior VP/co-founder of the company I work for. Don’t you agree?

Left: Sir Michael Gambon, aka Dumbledore. Right: Randy Goodrich, VP of Passport Online.

A Lion in London

In a little furniture shop aptly named Sophistocat on the King’s Road, London, there once lived a lion named Christian.  No joke …  I’m not making this up.

His story has been told in both a movie and a book – the originals of which are not easy to track down – but a snippet recently hit YouTube video and has been in wide circulation.

Wow.  Seriously. Wow.  Want to read more?  I won’t crowd this post with details, but you can check out these links:

P.S.  Thanks to Molly at These Little Moments, where I first spotted the video!

Sisterchicks Go Brit

One of my favorite authors as a teen was Robin Jones Gunn … my best friend and I were addicted to her Christ Miller series. A few years ago, I reacquainted myself with Robin through her newest series, Sisterchicks. Then last year, I attended a women’s retreat where she was the featured speaker … I actually got to meet her! She was super nice, and an amazing, inspiring speaker.

Anyway, since then I’ve tried to stay on top of her newest releases, and I’m subscribed to her newsletter (go to her website and you can sign up too). Today I received an announcement that the next Sisterchicks adventure, Sisterchicks Go Brit! is in stores now and I can’t wait to read it. Here’s a photo that was in the email:

Sisterchicks Book Giveaway

I love it! Makes me want to travel to London and get on one of those big red buses and take a tour for myself 🙂

You can purchase this book and other Sisterchick novels on Amazon.com for $10-12. Or do like I did: post the bus photo above on your blog, Myspace, or Facebook page and send the webpage link to robinsnest@robingunn.com to be entered in a drawing for one of 20 copies of the book! The 20 winners will be notified via email by June 4th. Good luck!
